Mission statement

My goal is to foster a supportive and inclusive environment in which your mental well-being  is prioritized, valued, and actively supported through accessible resources, education, and a culture of empathy and understanding.

My name is Kayon McDermott, and I am passionate about supporting you to experience increased self-empowerment, compassion and healing by untying the knots of your trauma. I specialize in supporting individuals who have experienced childhood trauma and relationship or attachment injuries. My focus areas include addressing communication issues, challenges with trust, safety, or vulnerability in relationships, distorted thinking patterns, and difficulties with identifying and regulating emotions. If you feel silenced or unheard, I have a genuine desire to offer a space where you can be heard; a space to remind you of what's within and how to use it to foster your healing.

My experience includes providing Christian and non-Christian trauma-informed mental health support to individuals, couples and families. While working in community mental health for several years, I developed a passion for supporting youths and adults who experienced childhood and adulthood abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, and substance use, to name a few. With a focus on attachment and trauma history, I've supported couples stuck in negative cycles,  mothers struggling with parenting guilt and shame, and individuals hurting from unhealed trauma.

In addition to supporting clients, I serve as a facilitator, a peer support, and a program developer. I worked with organizations providing trauma-informed mental health workshops to parents, employees, newcomers, and multicultural communities.

Connect with me today to start your healing journey. We will work together to tailor a plan specific to your needs and goals. An example of what a typical session looks like is included in the What to Expect section below.
